Angry Birds

Angry Birds is featured in the April 2011 issue of Wired magazine (UK). This is a great article that contains some fascinating insights about Angry Birds, Rovio, Angry Birds Rio, and the future of the franchise. Below are some excerpts from the article, but if you’re a fan I highly recommend you check out the full article.
First, some stats, which are mind-blowing:
o   Every day, users spend 200 million minutes — 16 years every hour — playing the Angry Birds.
o   Three trillion pigs have been popped.
o   It is or has been the number-one paid app on iTunes in 68 countries
o   Angry Birds is the best-selling paid app of all time
o   It went straight to the top of the new Mac App Store in January, selling 150,000 copies in its first week.
o   20 million paid downloads for the iPhone and iPod Touch
o   20 million ad-supported downloads on Android
o   Sixty thousand Angry Birds soft toys have been sold.
o   In total, the “brand” has taken more than $69,000,000
o   Angry Birds cost about $100,000 to make
o   Angry Birds was Rovio’s 52nd title.
Could this be our first glimpse at a new bird?
They incorporated levels designed by fans and discussed their ideas for new birds (among the suggestions: a phoenix bird that ignites the structure).
The Bad Piggy Bank is coming to Facebook, in addition to Android
“You can expect to see Bad Piggy Bank online as part of Facebook,” says Vesterbacka. “It’s bigger than just Android.”
Angry Birds Rio has no pigs!
Wired played three of the levels in progress and found it to be business as usual. But the pigs are gone (replaced by hanging monkeys), the physics have been tweaked and new objects added, such as bouncy palm trees and working motors. Instead of popping pigs, you free captured rare birds from cages by bombarding them with your own flock — more or less the plot of the film.
So what’s next?
First up is Facebook.
After that?
Rovio plans to create new games featuring Angry Birds characters (Vesterbacka says driving and sports games are a definite possibility), the first coming out before Christmas this year. At the same time, the original Angry Birds will hit the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3. There are plans for a TV series, says Mikael, and a movie — although nothing has been signed.

Macho Man "THE LEGEND DIES"

Legendary wrestler Randy Savage, known to fans as "Macho Man," died in a car accident in Tampa, Fla., on Friday, according to TMZ. He was 58.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Savage was driving his Jeep Wrangler when he veered across a concrete median, through oncoming traffic, and "collided head-on with a tree" around 9:25 a.m. He was transported to Largo Medical Center, where he died. Savage's wife of one year, Lynn, was a passenger but sustained only minor injuries, according to TMZ. The police report noted that both Poffo and his wife were wearing seatbelts.
Savage's brother, Lanny Poffo told TMZ that the wrestler suffered a heart attack while he was driving and then lost control of the vehicle. The website also reported that doctors are scheduled to perform an autopsy on Saturday, May 21.
Frequent ring opponent Hulk Hogan tweeted: "I'm completely devastated, after over 10 years of not talking with Randy, we've finally started to talk and communicate. He had so much life in his eyes & in his spirit, I just pray that he's happy and in a better place and we miss him."
A spokesperson for World Wrestling Entertainment released a statement saying “WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of one of the greatest superstars of his time, Randy Poffo, a.k.a. Randy 'Macho Man' Savage. Poffo was under contract with WWE from 1985 to 1993 and held both the WWE and Intercontinental Championships. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends. We wish a speedy recovery to his wife Lynn. Poffo will be greatly missed by WWE and his fans.”
And actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson tweeted:  "RIP Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage - you were one of my childhood inspirations and heroes."
Savage joined the World Wrestling Federation in 1985 and became a star with the catchphrase "ooooooh yeaaaahhh." He also made a series of memorable TV commercials where he urged viewers to "snap into a Slim Jim."

HOW TO CREATE A BLOG

How to Set Up a Blog, by Using Word Press
This beginners guide shows you exactly how to set up a blog (or website), from start to finish. I've omitted everything you don't need to know, so you can get your blog up and running as fast as possible.

We'll be using WordPress. It's by far the best and most popular blogging system.

Two ways to get a WordPress blog: Free, and self-hosted
You can get a free WordPress blog, but until you pay, your site will be at http://yourwebsite.theirwebsite.com, and it will display ads. All kinds of features (including adding video or audio, or choosing a layout outside the small selection offered) cost money.

This guide covers the better option, which is to use self-hosted WordPress. You do this by paying for "web hosting", and then putting (hosting) your WordPress blog there. This is very easy to do, and will cost you about $4-5 per month in total (£3 if you're in the UK). After this, everything is free. You'll have a .com (or any other) domain name, there will be no ads on your site, you can access all layouts and add-ons, and you can put anything you like on your site – without paying.

Many people have set up blogs by following these instructions. It's easy to set up a blog by following this guide, but if you ever get stuck, you can email me, and I'll let you know what you need to do.

The information in this guide is all free.

Setting up a blog, in a nutshell
Take note of this overview. It's important.

To set up a blog, you only need to do these two things:

Choose a domain name (i.e. something.com), and buy website hosting to put your blog on.
Use WordPress to create your blog.

Domain Name & Web Hosting
What is a domain name?
A domain name is the internet address of a website or blog. (For example, websitesetupguide.com is the domain name of this site.) You'll need to choose a domain name.
A domain name will cost around US$10-20 per year.
Some domain name advice
  • Your domain name should be simple, obvious, and as short as possible.
  • It's more important to make your domain name memorable and speakable than it is to make it accurate. Don't stuff your whole business name into your domain name. (e.g. Maude Smithers Landscaping & Gardening should use smitherslandscaping.com, not maudeslandandgdn.com)
  • Don't use numbers or dashes (without very good reason). They look gimmicky.
What is web hosting?
Web hosting is where your website (or blog) actually sits, on a computer, in a building somewhere, when you put it on the internet. It doesn't matter where in the world you're located, or where your web hosting is located.
Web hosting (and a domain name) are the only things you have to pay for, to set up a website. Everything else can be done for free.
Likely Cost: up to US$10 per month.
My recommendation for web hosting
Choosing a web hosting provider is not easy. There's a huge number of very similar web hosts out there, and 99% of the information about them is from dishonest "review" sites.
Feel free to do your own research into web hosting, but I think you'll find it mind-boggling.
On this site, I only promote one web host – the one I think is the best. After investigating all the major hosts, reading countless discussions, and doing my own investigation, I've come to the conclusion that the best web host is HostGator. Their prices are good, their tech support isn't outsourced, and they just seem to be be a high-quality and ethical company.
Sign up for web hosting, and begin
Make sure you visit HostGator through this link, because right now they're offering a discount, to readers of this guide.
I'd recommend signing up for the Hatchling plan, or if you intend to set up more than one website, sign up for the Baby plan.
Click here to sign up for HostGator hosting and domain name >>  (It should take about ten minutes. If you have any questions, you can talk to HostGator's Live Chat.)
If you'd like a 25% discount off the price, make sure you type in WebsiteSetupGuide when HostGator asks you for a coupon code (if it's not already written there.) Anyone can use this coupon code to get a discount. You can send it to friends or family.
If you use HostGator, I can tell you exactly what to do, to set up your website or blog.
What if I already have hosting, a website, or a domain I bought elsewhere?
Do this step if you already have a domain name or web hosting you bought elsewhere.
If you already have a domain name...
If you already have a domain name, and you don't want to sign up for a new one, that's fine. Just sign up with HostGator, then talk to their Live Chat. They'll help you connect your domain name to your new HostGator web hosting.
If you already have web hosting or a website...
If you have web hosting somewhere else, my guide won't really be able to help you. The settings are different for each web host, and I can only offer assistance to people who are actual or potential HostGator customers. However, if you do want to follow this guide, and set up your website right now, you can easily switch to HostGator. Just sign up with HostGator. If you already have a domain name you'd like to keep, talk to HostGator's Live Chat.

3D Game

The origin of video games lies in early cathode ray tube-based missile defense systems in the late 1940s. These programs were later adapted into other simple games during the 1950s. By the late 1950s and through the 1960s, more computer games were developed (mostly on mainframe computers), gradually increasing in sophistication and complexity.[n 1] Following this period, video games diverged into different platforms: arcade, mainframe, console, personal computer and later handheld games.[1]
The first commercially viable video game was Computer Space in 1971, which laid the foundation for a new entertainment industry in the late 1970s within the United States, Japan, and Europe. The first major crash in 1977 occurred when companies were forced to sell their older obsolete systems flooding the market. Six years later a second, greater crash occurred. This crash—brought on largely by a flood of poor quality video games coming to the market—resulted in a total collapse of the console gaming industry in the United States, ultimately shifting dominance of the market from North America to Japan. While the crash killed the console gaming market, the computer gaming market was largely unaffected. Subsequent generations of console video games would continue to be dominated by Japanese corporations. Though several attempts would be made by North American and European companies, fourth generation of consoles, their ventures would ultimately fail.
